JOHN EVANS RECENT PAINTINGS AT GALLERY HENOCH

Set 3-2 GS/AK; # 690773

NEW YORK CITY — John Evans will exhibit his new paintings at Gallery Henoch March 15–April 7. A reception for the artist will be held Thursday, March 15, from 6 to 8 pm.

Vast expanses of land, ocean and sky are the subject of John Evans’ fourth solo show at the gallery. The images were inspired by the coastlines of Cape Cod, the North Shore of Massachusetts and, periodically, the fields of central France. Throughout his career, the Boston-based painter has cultivated a distinctive visual energy by fusing classical form and sweeping gestures of paint.

Evans was born in 1945. He studied at Boston University with Philip Guston and James Weeks. Evans is included in the public collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C.; the Fogg Art Museum, Cambridge, Mass.; and the Museum of Fine Art, Houston, among others.

Gallery Henoch is at 555 West 25th Street (between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues). The event is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesday–Saturday, 10:30 am to 6 pm, or by appointment. For information, call Andrew Liss at  917-305-0003.
