Creative Wellspring Evening Sessions Planned

By Jan Howard

The recent Creative Wellspring series facilitated by Ginger Humeston was so successful that she will coordinate an evening class for those who were unable to attend the daytime sessions.

The C.H. Booth Library will present Creative Wellspring II, beginning March 14 and continuing March 28, April 11, and April 25, from 7:30 to 9 pm in the meeting room.

The series will focus on enrichment through a variety of media. The idea for the series evolved from a program Ms Humeston originally presented for the Bridgeport Diocese. Ms Humeston believes that as life becomes more and more hectic, women of all ages continue to ask the same question: “How do we keep centered?” She believes that women need to come together to learn from each other because they share this common thread.

She invites all those who are interested to join her in a pilgrimage to self-discovery. Participants are asked to bring along a journal to keep a record of their experience.

The March 14 session will feature a book discussion led by Ms Humeston of Gift from the Sea by Ann Morrow Lindbergh, whose work was the inspiration for the series.

In her book, Mrs Lindbergh expresses the concern about “how to remain balanced no matter what centrifugal forces tend to pull one off center; how to remain strong no matter what shocks come at the periphery and tend to crack the hub of the wheel.”

On March 28, Lucy Sullivan will discuss the value of a record of a person’s days and thoughts in “Keeping a Journal – It Tells the Truth.” A journal, Ms Sullivan said, is a way of bringing the past along with you, a record of a garden or the emotional tracking of the life journey you are making.

“Your perspective is never the same as a person. A journal gives you insight into who you were then,” she said. It also reflects the little things that were important to you.

A journal may also reflect news events and recollections that are of immense interest and value to future generations.

A journal, Ms Sullivan said, “is a phenomenal thing, a great tool.”

Rose Bergen will be the presenter for Vita Rest Relaxation and Meditation on April 11. She has been studying and teaching yoga for over 25 years.

On April 25, Dreaming with Anita Hall will be featured. Ms Hall is a highly respected psychotherapist who specializes in dream therapy. She feels that dreams bring out creativity, help solve problems, and enable people to make decisions.
