A presentation on transitioning from high school to college will take place on Tuesday, March 6, at 7 pm in the high school auditorium. Lee Williams from the University of Connecticut will be conducting a health seminar for seniors and their parents.

The topic of this particular seminar will be “Two Transitional Years — The Final Year of High School and the First Year of College.” Specifically, Ms Williams will discuss the challenges, difficulties, and developmental issues of leaving high school and entering college.

She will discuss the overlapping concepts and show how they influence a student’s decisions and how these decisions are manifested in the student’s behavior. She will also discuss Schlossberg’s “Theory of Transition…Moving In, Moving Through and Moving Out.”

Also on the agenda will be a discussion of the “Four S’s” that influence a person’s ability to cope with transitions.

This will be a very informative session. A questions and answer period will follow.

For more information, contact Director of Guidance Neil Culhane, 426-7652, or District Health Director Judy Blanchard, 426-2798.
