Elizabeth Anne Kotecki, 22, and her son, Jacob Andrew Kotecki, 15 months, of Vernon Hills, Ill., died in a four-vehicle traffic accident on February 16. Ms Kotecki was the daughter of former Newtown residents Jeffrey and Joanna Kotecki.
In addition to her parents, a brother, Andrew; grandparents Maria and Joseph Emerle and Harry and Myra Kotecki; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins survive Ms Kotecki and her son.
Jacob Kotecki is survived by his father, Daniel S. Steelman, and grandparents Scott and Carol Steelman.
Ms Kotecki was a senior at Northern Illinois University. She was the first teen member of the parish council at St Mary of Vernon. During her summers, Ms Kotecki volunteered with local and national humanitarian projects.
Funeral services were held February 22 at St Mary of Vernon, Indian Creek, Ill.
A remembrance ceremony will be held in Elizabeth and Jacobâs honor at St Rose Church in Newtown Sunday, March 4, at 4 pm, in the parish chapel.
