The Events Before And

During Chancellorsville

BROOKFIELD — On Monday, March 5, at 7:30 pm, Brookfield Museum and Historical Society will sponsor a lecture on the Battle of Chancellorsville as part of its continuing forum on the American Civil War.

The talk will be given at the society’s museum, located at the intersection of Routes 25 and 133 in Brookfield Center. The speaker will be New Milford resident Dr Dan Norwood, an analytical scientist at Boehringer Ingelheim in Danbury.

Dr Norwood will outline the circumstances leading up to the conflict as well as the events that occurred throughout the battle which took place in early May 1863.  Chancellorsville today is considered the Confederate army’s greatest victory during the American Civil War.

Dr Norwood, who was born and raised in the south, has long been a student of the War Between the States.

Complimentary refreshments will be served following the lecture. Admission is encouraged to attend and admission is free. For more information on this and other upcoming events of Brookfield Historical Society visit BrookfieldCTHistory.org or call 740-8140.
