Copper Theft

Police are investigating the theft of some copper drainage gutters and leaders from the exterior of a commercial building at 320 South Main Street, which is on the corner of South Main Street and Blue Spruce Drive in Botsford.

Police said they received a call about 7 pm on February 27 informing them that sometime between 4:30 pm on Friday, February 24, and 5:30 pm on Monday, February 27, someone stole the copper items from the building’s exterior.

The stolen items are estimated to be worth about $1,425, police said. The motive for such thefts typically is to sell the stolen copper as scrap metal for cash.
