Bye Bye Birdie

The cast and crew of the Newtown Middle School’s upcoming production of Bye Bye Birdie were quick to the stage this Tuesday, February 28, after school to continue rehearsals.

The musical production was written by Michael Stewart, with lyrics by Lee Adams, and music written by Charles Strouse.

Bye Bye Birdie follows the story of a rock and roll star set to be inducted into the army. His agent sets up a plan to have the rock star say goodbye by kissing a fan.

The Newtown Middle School students are set to take the stage for the first public performance on Friday, March 9, at 7 pm. Another performance will be held Saturday, March 10, at 7 pm, and a Sunday matinee is scheduled for March 11 at 2 pm.

Tickets for the production will be $10 for adults and $8 for students.
