Painting Winter Animals At C.H. Booth Library
Artist and educator Meagan Ferriter is teaching students how to draw and use watercolors to paint winter animals in a three-part series offered by the C.H. Booth Library. The first class took place February 20, with the next two classes already filled.
Ferriter is an artist, muralist, and freelance elementary art teacher living in Newtown. She has taught art around the world and uses a portion of the proceeds from her art programs to support humanitarian projects in Dominica and Central Russia.
Her preferred method of teaching is in person, and the C.H. Booth Library was able to provide a space where budding artists could come together while working at a safe distance.
Ferriter provides step-by-step instruction in drawing and painting the animal subject of the day, followed by a corresponding children’s book. There is time at the end of the program for students to share their compositions with the group.
Based on the popularity of the series, the library hopes to offer more art classes with Ferriter.
