Occupation: I am a private piano and voice teacher.

Family: Between my husband, Larry, and me we have four girls. Elizabeth is Larry’s oldest girl. She is 25. His other daughter, Rebecca, is 19. My daughters Tory and Kristin are 19 and 11 years old.

Pets: We lost our dog, Sally, last spring. She was 16 years old. So far, she is irreplaceable.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We moved here the end of July in 2003.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to do things with my family. I like to travel and I like to do anything with music: see music, hear music, do music. My husband plays classical guitar and he accompanies me sometimes when I sing. I used to sing opera with regional opera companies. I was co-founder and co-artistic director of the Ridgefield Opera Company for four years in Ridgefield, where I lived before coming to Newtown. Last summer I was director of production for the Atlantic Coast Opera near Philadelphia. They did 16 productions during that month I was there and eight were fully staged operas. I read, too, anything I can get my hands on.

Do you have a favorite book? I like historical fiction. Actually, I like whatever I’m currently reading. Right now that’s The Lovely Bones. I also like English literature like Jane Eyre and Russian literature, too.

If you could meet any musician, who would that be? I think I would like to meet Maria Callas. She was such huge personality and such a drama queen. She would be interesting.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I like northern Michigan. I went to college at Interlochen near Traverse City. It’s so beautiful there. I love the lakes and the woods.

What is the best thing about Newtown? Newtown is friendly and it is not so crowded as some other towns around here. You don’t usually get into a traffic jam. I like the schools and it’s close enough to New York City that it is convenient to get in and out of there.

Do you have a personal philosophy? For me, as a musician, I have to have music in my life or I am not complete.

What is the most important lesson you have ever learned? It would have to be a lesson I learned from my father over the years: approach life in a positive manner. Live every day to the fullest.
