GIRLS 8TH GRADE

 

NEWTOWN 50, EASTON 18: Newtown raised its record to 19-2 on the season as all eight players scored points. Jacky Curran and Meghan Kelley led the way with 12 points apiece while Siobhan Cooper added 10 and Katie O’Connor chipped in with six. Jessica Palermo and Jackie Ercole combined for 28 rebounds while Megan LaFlamme and Emily Nezvesky had fine floor games.

 

GIRLS 7TH-8TH GRADE

 

NEWTOWN 55, BEACON FALLS 44: Rose Jackman scored 12 points while Sarah Holroyd and Vicky Thomas combined for 14 more to lead Newtown over Beacon Falls. Kimberly Solheim, Erica Helsel, Rachel Eastman and Lindsay Weber all contributed to the offense.

NEWTOWN 28, REDDING 22: Rose Jackman scored eight points while Melissa Russell and Erica Helsel combined for 10 more to lead Newtown past Redding.

NEWTOWN 34, REDDING 29: Sarah Holroyd tossed in a season-high 15 points as Newtown defeated Redding. Kacy Foehrenbach added 10 points while Lindsay Weber and Rachel Eastman played solid defense.

NEWTOWN 41, DANBURY P.A.L. 40: Kimberly Solheim made a steal off an inbounds pass and scored in the final seconds to help lead Newtown past Danbury. Solheim scored six points on the game while Rose Jackman led the way with 16. Sarah Holroyd and Kacy Foehrenbach combined for 20 more. Christy Caruso had an outstanding defensive game for Newtown, which dressed just five players for the game.

NEWTOWN 45, NEW FAIRFIELD 28: Kacy Foehrenbach scored 11 points and Sarah Holroyd added eight more to lead Newtown past New Fairfield. Vicky Thomas, Rachel Eastman and Lindsay Weber all played well on defense. Newtown now heads on to face Brookfield in the semi-finals of the South-Western Conference playoffs.

 

BOYS 7TH GRADE

 

CHESHIRE 47, NEWTOWN 38: Marc Ingerman scored 14 points and pulled down 18 rebounds to lead Newtown in a loss to Cheshire. Drew Adamek and Brian Shimko tossed in six points apiece while Stephen Kean had a solid game with four points, six rebounds, and four steals.

NEWTOWN 44, REDDING 34: Marc Ingerman had another double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead Newtown to a 10-point win. Stephen Kean also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Drew Adamek tossed in six points and Tommy Wilson added five.

NEW CANAAN 61, NEWTOWN 57: March Ingerman scored 15 points and Tommy Wilson added 11, but Newtown fell short against New Canaan. Stephen Kean and Drew Harmata combined for 14 points while Stephen Neylon and Jack Capito had strong floor games.

BOYS 6TH GRADE

 

BLUE DEVILS 68, DANBURY 46: The Blue Devil’s offense exploded as they defeated Danbury by a score of 68-46. Joey DeVellis led the offensive attack with 17 points while Ryan McGrath and Justin Miller netted 10 apiece. Kevin Regan and Jack Quinn scored seven each while Tad Pierson chipped in five, rounding out the Blue Devil scoring. Brian Conroy, Mike Kennedy and Joe Bowen had strong games off the glass for Newtown.

BLUE DEVILS 46, EASTON 37: Ryan McGrath scored 17 points and went 5-of-6 from the line to lead the Blue Devils over Easton. Point guard Joey DeVellis scored 14 while Kevin Regan chipped in six points and ripped down 15 rebounds. Tucker Kass and McGrath also helped to dominate the rebounding while Tad Pierson dished out three assists for the Blue Devils, who improved their record to 20-3.

BOYS 5TH GRADE

 

NEWTOWN 47, WESTON 23: Danny Smith canned 16 points to lead Newtown to a big win over Weston. Michael Maher, Jerod Modzelewski, Greg Rodden and Danny Giorno combined for 25 points. Matt Boland had a fine floor game with 10 assists while PJ Cochrane, Bobby Lapple, and Kevin Troy sparked the defense.

NEWTOWN 31, NEW FAIRFIELD 12: Danny Smith scored 10 points while Michael Maher, Jerod Modzelewski, Bobby Lapple, and Kevin Troy combined for 15 more in a big win over New Fairfield. Danny Giorno had a nice floor game and PJ Cochrane, Matt Boland, and Greg Rodden powered the defense.
