Roland Geiger

Herman Roland Geiger, Jr, 73, the husband of Vonnie Cagle Geiger, of 841 Hawk Ridge Road, Westminster, S.C., died Thursday, March 1, at Anderson Area Medical Center.

Mr Geiger was born in Newtown, then lived his early life here before moving to New York City. He was the son of the late Herman R. Geiger, Sr, and Mary (Rogers) Geiger.

He graduated from Yale University in 1950 with a degree in mechanical engineering and retired from Schlumberger Industries, after 30 years of service, as manager of tool engineering.

Mr Geiger was a US Navy veteran, and a lifelong active member of rescue squads, police auxiliaries, and fire departments in Connecticut, Illinois, and South Carolina. He was an EMT and a Master EMT Instructor.

In addition to his wife, Mr Geiger is survived by a daughter, Susan Geiger, of Guffey, Colo.; a stepson, Jeff Gilmore, of Valdosta, Ga.; and a grandson, Eli Gilmore, of Valdosta, Ga.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, March 4, from the Davenport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y.
