A True Gentleman

Ferdinand “Fred” C. Frassinelli, Jr., 84, of Fairfield, formerly of Black Rock, died March 2, at St Vincent’s Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Sarah Wheeler Frassinelli. The son of Josephine and Ferdinand Frassinelli, he was born in Bridgeport and had been a lifelong Black Rock resident prior to moving to Fairfield four years ago.

Four children, including David W. Frassinelli and his wife, Elizabeth, of Newtown; two sisters; three grandchildren; his dear friend, Bernard deMaillard of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews survive Mr Frassinelli. In addition to his wife and parents, a sister, Gloria; and a brother-in-law, Frank Riccio, MD, predeceased him.

He spent his career with his family’s business, the E&F Construction Company. At the time of his death, he served on the Board of Directors of the Merritt Parkway Conservancy, and previously served as chairman of the Board of the Connecticut Hospice, and on the Boards of Trustees at Sacred Heart University, Fairfield Country Day School, Sarah Lawrence College, and Bankmart.

He was also active in the Black Rock Yacht Club, Fairfield County Hunt Club, and New York Athletic Club, and previously with the Algonquin Club, Brooklawn Country Club, and Pequot Yacht Club.

 Mr Frassinelli was admired by friends, neighbors, colleagues, and countless people that he knew throughout his life. He will be fondly remembered for his thoughtfulness, style, and appreciation for design, architecture, nature, and the beauty they created.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 6, at 10 am, meeting directly at Saint Ann Church, 431 Brewster Street, Black Rock. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call Friday, March 5, from 3 to 8 pm, in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
