Thomas W. Travers, 82, of West Harwich, Mass., and formerly of Dobbs Ferry and Riverdale, N.Y., died February 27, at Broad Reach Rehabilitation Center in Chatham, Mass. Mr Travers was born in Yonkers, N.Y., and grew up in the Bronx.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; four children, including Susan Dennen of Sandy Hook; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr Travers served in the US Navy during World War II.

He was proprietor of Progress Radio and TV on Broadway in Kingsbridge, New York City, for nearly 40 years, president of the Kingsbridge, Riverdale, Marble Hill Chamber of Commerce from 1971 to 1986, and coordinator of the Kingsbridge Van Cortland Park Development Corporation until 1988. Mr Travers moved to Cape Cod in 1989 and established Advanced Water Systems.

He served as Grand Knight of the Pope Paul VI chapter from 2003 to 2008.

His interests included music, reading, and family genealogy.
