The Newtown Chamber of Commerce is inviting anyone interested in learning more about where the economy is heading to save the date for its next virtual event.

As the state and nation roll out an aggressive COVID-19 vaccine program and hope for a significant and swift economic recovery, the Newtown Chamber is promising “an informative, eye-opening presentation and perspective on the current regional, state and national economy.”

The special guest for this session is John Traynor, executive vice president and chief investment officer at People’s United Bank. The Zoom event is set for Thursday, March 25, from 8 to 9 am.

“Small businesses are working hard to stay open as consumer confidence grows,” said Chamber Executive Director Helen Brickfield. “The changes in the relief packages have been challenging to keep up with. And John is excellent at cutting through the noise and explaining what is going on in the economy.”

Judith Miller, president of the Chamber of Commerce added, “I have been fortunate to attend John Traynor’s economic presentations in the past. John always provides an insightful and positive perspective to the current regional , state and national economy.”

As chief investment officer, Traynor directs the overall investment process and committees for the firm. He also serves as the chief spokesman for the firm’s investment outlook through regular strategy briefings.

Traynor also appears regularly on CNBC, the Nightly Business Report, and Fox Business Network, and has been a source for the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.

Registration is required for this free event, which is co-sponsored by the Newtown Economic and Community Development Office, marking the third collaboration between the ECD and Chamber presenting economic outlook events.

Business owners or anyone with bottom-line functions or responsibilities for their company should plan to attend, although the session is open to the public and media as well. The presentation will cover current economic conditions that may impact business or personal life.

To register, e-mail chamber@newtown-ct.com. Questions may be directed to Brickfield at helenbrickfield@newtown-ct.com.
