*MATCHBOX TWENTY added a number of shows to its itinerary this week, including a May 17 show at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville. The band announced a full series of dates, in fact, which will be the first full tour for the guys since 2001 and a support for the recently-released More Than You Think You Are. It’s a really good album. I received it for Christmas and it hasn’t been out of my CD player too much since then.

Sugar Ray will be playing the opening set.

Tickets are set to go on sale Saturday, March 22, but I don’t have price details yet.

*Also new this week is a series of shows on the Mohegan Sun calendar, according to Pollstar… only I don’t know if these shows are in the casino’s arena, cabaret or Wolf Den. For now let me at least share the people and dates. I’ll follow up as soon as I can with additional details.

March 15, NELSON; March 30, SUSAN TEDESCHI, in the Wolf Den; April 5, SOUTHSIDE JOHNNY & THE ASBURY JUKES, also in the Wolf Den; April 18-19, TODD RUNDGREN; April 25, TOTO; May 17, DENNIS DeYOUNG; May 25, CHER, in the arena; May 30, RICHARD MARX; June 8, JEFFREY OSBOURNE; June 20, CHARLIE DANIELS BAND; July 3, JOHN CAFFERTY & THE BEAVER BROWN BAND; July 5-6, AMERICA; July 24, NIGHT RANGER; July 29, JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS; August 6, THE OUTFIELD; August 8, EDDIE MONEY; August 10, JETHRO TULL, in the arena; and September 26, CREDENCE CLEARWATER REVISITED.

The one show I can offer details on is Jethro Tull, which will be going on sale April 12.

*Rapper 50 CENT unveiled his first set of headlining dates this week, which will include an April 26 stop at UConn Storrs.

*LUCINDA continues her unending tour this month with four events, two of them local. This weekend she’s appearing on Music Shop, a cable program on Litchfield County’s cable system. Next weekend she has an acoustic performance from noon to 4 pm at Danbury Fair Mall’s Center Court.

On March 18 she’ll be in New York City for a 6 pm performance during “LIFEbeat – The Music Industry Fights AIDS,” which is an invitation-only event. And then she’ll be doing an interview feature on Joe Limardi’s radio program on Y105.5 FM on Friday, March 28, at 5 pm.

*HAT CITY BLUES returns to Classic Rock Airport Pub later this month. Good thing harmonica player David Lott dropped me a line about this one, because the pub’s website continues to list its shows from March.

HCB will be at the Danbury venue on Saturday, March 22. Showtime is 9:30 and the cover is $4.

The band will also be doing a benefit concert for Newtown Youth Services on Friday, May 16. Details will be coming in future columns…

Until next week I’ll bee seeing you… on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown, CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141.

Shows listed at club locations are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
