The Society of the Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will be presenting its golden anniversary annual Spring Juried Show this year.

The show and sale will be presented at Art & Frame Gallery, 77 Main Street, March 28 through May 15.

Show hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm.

Media accepted into the show will include works in watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, graphics, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media (including collage). Receiving will be on Thursday, March 26, from 3 to 6 pm.

All work must be completely conceived and recently executed by the artist, and not previously shown at any SCAN show. Each artist may enter up to two works.

Entree fees are $15 for the first entry for SCAN members, and $5 for the second entry.

Fees for nonmembers are $30 and $10, respectively.

Jurors for selection and awards are nationally known artists Zufar Bikbov, Charles Ray, and Shauna Shane.

The Opening & Awards Reception is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, from 5 to 7 pm. The awards will be presented at 6 pm.

The public is invited to the reception, as well as to the exhibition. Light refreshments will be served during the reception.

The annual Larry Newquist Award for Excellence/Best in Show prize for $600, and numerous other prizes totaling over $2,000, will be given for outstanding work at the show reception.

The show chair is Adele Moros (203-744-7690). Co-chair is Ed Arribas (203-218-2835). For additional information or to see and/or download the complete prospectus, visit scanart.org.

“Sprouting Onion,” a watercolor by Michele Rofrano, has been selected as the signature work ahead of SCAN’s 50th Annual Spring Juried Show and sale.
