How would you describe your occupation? I own the Stockwell Agency, an Allstate Insurance franchise. I describe us as risk-advisers for folks primarily with personal insurance.

Who is in your family? I have a wife, Jennifer; and two boys, Nick and Cole. Cole is 15, Nick is going to be 14 in a month. I have a sister who lives in Southbury with her husband and two girls.

Do you have any pets? I have a dog, Boomer; and a fish, Gronk.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I was raised in Newtown, graduated high school from Newtown High School, went off to college, and moved back to Newtown in 2004.

What do you like to do in your free time? Coach. Now that both boys are going to be in high school, I’ll be done coaching. I have coached football, basketball, and baseball. I still volunteer with Newtown Youth Football, so that keeps me pretty busy. I play golf, work out, go to the boys’ games. They play lacrosse and football.

What is your favorite book? Anything murder-mystery, CIA operative-type books are usually what you could find me reading. My favorite book series is the Mitch Rapp series by an author named Vince Flynn.

What organizations are you part of in town? Newtown Youth Football is a big one. I try to volunteer with any other sports-related organizations my kids are involved in.

Who or what has been the greatest influence on your life? My parents, neither of which grew up in outstanding circumstances. My father put himself through school after getting out of the army, and became an educator in Newtown for 32 years. My mother put herself through school and graduated when I was in eighth grade, then bought her own business. They’ve always been involved in the community, they’ve worked hard. Everything they have they developed themselves. It’s a good thing they passed that down to my sister and I.

If you could spend the day with one person, who would you choose and why? George Washington. I was a history major in college, and the Revolutionary War period up to the Civil War period is where I spent most of my time studying. That Revolutionary War mindset was amazing, it would be fascinating to talk to someone so intricately involved in establishing the country we live in now. I don’t think people understand what it took to do what they did.

Who is your favorite musical artist? I like Luke Combs a lot, or any kind of country. Although, I like all music.

What is the greatest piece of advice you’ve ever been given? “One day at a time.”

What is something you cannot live without? Coffee.

What is your proudest accomplishment? My boys. Where they are in their life, navigating a very difficult world as teenagers, and to be the good kids that they are is probably one of my best accomplishments if I could take any credit at all for it.

What is your favorite travel destination? We go to Aruba quite a bit, Florida we like, but I think we are going to try to go to the Mediterranean in the next year or two. It might not be my favorite yet, but I’m going to go check it out.

What is the best part about Newtown? You could go anywhere in town and see somebody that you know. At any restaurant, on any sidewalk, and anybody in the paper is somebody I probably have seen, recognized, talked to, or been around since my time here in town. That kind of community is hard to find, you don’t find that in many places.
