Variety Show For US Troops

DANBURY — Western Connecticut State University students will reach beyond Connecticut to provide support for American troops this weekend.

At 1 pm on Sunday, April 3, “Freedom Live 2005” will pay tribute to US military troops and their families. The live variety show will be held in Warner Hall on the university’s midtown campus, 181 White Street.

As the war in Iraq moves into its third year, the creative skits, live music, and comedy routines performed by WestConn students will be recorded and sent to soldiers serving overseas. The public is invited to the free show, which is the brainchild of WCSU Associate Professor of Communication Karen Raftery, a US Army veteran.

For more information about “Freedom Live 2005,” call Professor Raftery at 837-8257 or the WestConn Office of Public Relations at 837-8486.
