Dora S. Loutrel

Cherished Mother

 And Friend

Dora S. Loutrel of Bloomfield, 94, and formerly a longtime Newtown resident and summer resident of Hyannis Port, Mass., wife of the late Louis F. Loutrel, Jr, died at her home in the Seabury Retirement Community in Bloomfield, March 27. She was born July 30, 1915, in Indianapolis, Ind.

She was a faithful member of Trinity Church in Newtown, St Andrews-by-the Sea, Hyannis Port, St Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Bloomfield, and of the Chapel at Seabury, having served as lector, chalice bearer, and altar guild member.

She was an avid sailor, and skippered her Wianno Senior, The Mimi, for many years on Nantucket Sound. In addition to her cherished family and friends, she loved flowers and gardening and a long line of spoiled dachshunds.

She is survived by four children; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister.

A service of thanksgiving for her life was held March 31. Burial will be at a later date on Cape Cod.

Memorial donations may be made to the Seabury Charitable Foundation, 200 Seabury Drive, Bloomfield CT 06002; or a charity of one’s choice.
