SCAN Issues A Call For Artists

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) invites area artists to submit original work to its Annual Spring Juried Art Show.

Receiving will be Thursday, April 29, from 3 to 6 pm, at Cyrenius H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown.

This exhibit, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, will be presented in the lower meeting room. It will run from May 1 to May 9, and is sponsored by SCAN, an organization dedicated to promoting art in the region.

Accepted work will include oils, pastels, watercolors, acrylics, mixed media, graphics and sculpture. Contemporary as well as traditional artists are encouraged to enter two pieces. There is a $20 entry fee for the first accepted work ($15 for SCAN members) and an additional $5 for a second work; all entry fees are non-refundable.

Over $1,500 in cash prizes will be awarded.  The jury of selection and awards includes Janice Baragwanath, Leslie Lillien Levy and Shauna Shane.
