On Wednesday, April 11, well known professional landscape designer and Newtown resident Brid Craddock (pictured) will present a slide show featuring shrubs and bushes at the next meeting of The Town & Country Garden Club of Newtown.jgardner819@gmail.com.tcgardenclub.org.

Whether dealing with the disappointment of winterkill or the simple desire to select plants with more of "an attitude," Ms Craddock will share her knowledge of new hybrid selections that minimize insect problems, reduce maintenance, and provide additional lasting color and texture from spring to winter.

In addition to her formal certificates in horticulture, landscape design and interior design, Ms Craddock gained much of her expertise in fine gardening through working with fellow Newtown resident and celebrated gardener and author Sydney Eddison.

Ms Craddock is also a master gardener and past instructor at the New York Botanical Gardens. She is currently a full time lead landscape designer with Growing Solutions LLC, an organic land care company. She is actively involved in sustainable landscape design, planting, and masonry construction throughout Fairfield County.

The meeting and program will begin at 6:30 pm. It will take place at Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook. The program is free and open to the public. For additional information, e-mail Jan Gardner at
