Criminal Charges

Police report Leigh C. Brandes, 42, of Greenwich, forcibly entered a house on Dayton Street on March 31, damaging a door in the process, and becoming disorderly.

Police charged Brandes with first-degree criminal trespassing, third-degree criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct. Brandes was scheduled to appear in court to answer the charges.

I-84 DWI

State police report they stopped motorist Nicholas Rubertino, 51, of 47 Appleblossom Lane, about 12:15 am April 2 at the Interstate-84 Exit 11 off-ramp and charged him with driving while intoxicated, plus a seatbelt violation.

After processing, state police released Rubertino on a $500 non-surety bond for an April 10 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.

Spat On The Interstate

State police report that while on patrol they spotted a man and woman arguing on westbound Interstate-84 near Exit 11 about 11 pm April 1.

State police said the pair had been arguing inside an automobile and then got outside and continued the argument. Interviews indicated that each had assaulted the other while the car was in motion, state police said.

State police charged both with disorderly conduct. State police released Mary Rosado, 40, of Danbury, on a $750 surety bond, and released Daniel Ruffin, 36, of Danbury on a $500 non-surety bond. Both were scheduled to appear April 3 in Danbury Superior Court.

Windshield Hit

State police report motorist Virginia Deangelis, 34, of Oxford was driving a 1999 Audi sedan eastbound on Interstate-84 near Exit 9 about 2 pm March 29 when a nearby tractor-trailer truck was changing lanes and kicked up a rock which struck the Audi’s windshield. There were no injuries. State police are investigating.

 Jeep Vs Metal

State police said motorist Martin Nelson, Jr, 62, of New Preston was driving a 1989 Jeep Cherokee eastbound on Interstate 84 near Exit 10 about 8 am March 29 when the Jeep struck a large piece of metal in the road which had fallen off a 1986 GMC pickup truck driven by Jorge Pintado, 29, of Danbury.

There were no injuries. State police said Pintado failed to secure a load.

Tree Service

Police report that someone sometime overnight on March 30-31 entered the fenced lot of Newtown Tree Service at 160 Sugar Street, entered a company vehicle, and stole several items.

Items taken include several chain saws, a leaf blower, a hedge trimmer, and ropes. The estimated loss is $6,310, police said. There are no suspects in the second-degree larceny, police said.

Auto Theft

Police report that some time between 10:30 pm March 30 and 4:30 am March 31, someone stole a  1990 Honda Accord from a residential driveway on Appleblossom Lane.

The owner later located the stolen car at Fair Auto Supply on South Main Street, police said. A flashlight and set of keys were stolen from the car.

There are no suspects in the second-degree larceny, police said.

Sand Hill Road

At 1:40 pm April 3, a Sand Hill Road resident found that her front door had been kicked in and a burglary had taken place.

Missing from the residence is a laptop computer, 35-mm camera, jewelry box, a jar of coins which contained some $2 bills, and some pillowcases, police said.

Police ask anyone with information about the burglary/larceny to contact them.
