Daffodils Sold For Cancer

More than 1.6 million daffodils poured into Connecticut during the first week of spring for the American Cancer Society’s annual Daffodil Drive.

Companies and businesses in the region sold 50,000 bouquets, raising an estimated $220,000. A total of $830,000 is expected to be raised throughout the state.

Each year 183,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. The sale of daffodils raises money for cancer research and prevention and for services to cancer victims and their families.

In Newtown, Avance Esthetiques in the Sand Hill Plaza sold the blooms.
