Dinner For Bill Marsilio

 

A fundraising dinner to help raise funds for the bone marrow transplant of Bill Marsilio will be held Sunday, May 7, from 1 to 6 pm, at the Fireside Inn on South Main Street. It will be an afternoon of dining and dancing to help raise money toward the medical and related living expenses for Bill’s life-saving bone marrow transplant. The cost per plate is $60. Or you can send a tax deductible donation to SVMC Foundation, Swim Across the Sound, 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport, 06606 (in care of Bill Marsilio). Youth Lacrosse Coaches Sought

 

The Newtown Youth Lacrosse Association is seeking coaches for its boys’ and girls’ teams. Experience in the game is helpful, but not required. Openings are in the girls’ 3rd through 6th grade level and the boys’ 3rd through 8th grade level. Call Ken Law at 270-3905 or Tom D’Agostino at 426-4133 for further information.

Travel Softball Tryouts

 

Tryouts for the Girls’ 14-and-under traveling softball team will be held Saturday, April 8, from 9:30 am to 12 noon, at the Newtown Middle School. Players must be 14 or under as of January 1, 2000. Call Norm LaFlamme at 426-1954 or Ken Murdoch at 426-9779 for information.

Softball Clinics/Training

 

The Newtown Parks and Recreation Girls’ Softball League will hold a pre-season player clinic and training session Saturday at the Newtown High School and Newtown Middle School gymnasiums. The Softball Clinic will be held Saturday, April 8 at the Newtown High gym with midget division players (grades 2-4) from 1 to 2:30 pm and junior and senior division players (grades 5-9) from 2:30 to 4 pm. The training session for players ages 11 to 16 interested in playing summer travel ball will be held Saturday, April 8, from 9 am to 12 noon, in the Newtown Middle School A gym.
