Occupation: I’m the founder and executive director of the Resiliency Center of Newtown, since 2013. Prior to that, I was a forensics social worker for the State of Connecticut Public Defenders.

Family: I have a son, Chase, who is 8, and a daughter, Alexis, who is 6.

Pets: We have a dog, Sammy. He is a Shih Tzu-Lhasa mix, and just 4 years old.

How long have you lived here? I’ve been in Sandy Hook for six years. I lived in Ridgefield before that, where I grew up.

What do you like to do in your free time? Spend time with my kids. I run, and do Bikram yoga — that’s my big thing. Those are my self-care things when I’m not with my kids. I like to read in my down time.

What have you read recently? I just finished The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown. It’s a book about looking inward, and how to move forward.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I love to go anywhere that is warm and on the ocean. I’m a beach girl. I went to Hawaii and loved it.

What is the best thing about Newtown? I love that it is a very family-oriented town, with a lot of community programs for kids, and parks. It has that quaint New England feel.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? My children have been the biggest direct influence in my life. They remind me of what I want them to be as they grow. They bring me such joy and remind me of living for the day, and to keep what’s important in front of you.

What was your favorite toy, growing up? I think it was my Cabbage Patch doll. I still have her, and I might even have her “adoption” certificate somewhere.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? Facials are probably my guilty pleasure. I always go to Adam Broderick Salon in Ridgefield. I’d get one every month if they were not so expensive.
