Fifth District Republicans To Honor Marie Sturdevant

The 2000 GOP-5 brunch is scheduled for Sunday, April 9, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, at the Fireside Inn on Route 25 in Newtown.

The keynote speaker will be Lt Governor M. Jodi Rell.

The 2000 GOP-5 Achievement Award will be presented to Marie Sturdevant, for her tireless efforts on behalf of Republicans in Newtown and throughout Connecticut’s 5th Congressional District, as well as the entire state of Connecticut. Mrs Sturdevant is a former chair of GOP-5. Among the speakers for this event will be Mark Nielsen, Fifth Congressional candidate for Congress.

For more than 20 years GOP-5 has served as a strong booster organization for Republican candidates running for Congress from Connecticut’s Fifth District, providing resources throughout the district. The fifth is comprised of the following towns and cities in Fairfield and New Haven Counties – Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethany, Bethel, Brookfield, Cheshire, Danbury, Derby, Easton, Meridan, Middlebury, Monroe, Naugatuck, New Fairfield, Newtown, Oxford, Prospect, Redding, Ridgefield, Seymour, Shelton, Southbury, Waterbury, Weston, Wilton, Wolcott, and Woodbridge.

The GOP-5 Brunch is typically the largest Republican political event of the year.

In past years, attendance has exceeded 400 and speakers have included such notables as Representative Henry Hyde, Representative Susan Molinari, Representative Porter Goss, Representative John Boehner, Senator John Danforth, and Colonel Oliver North.

The co-chairs of the event are Ed Miller of Prospect and Bob Sulliman of Danbury. The cost of the brunch will be $30 per person with tables of ten, scheduled for 11:30 am. There will be a private reception beginning at 10:30 am with Lt Governor Rell, costing $50 per person, which includes a photo and brunch.
