After-School Program A Success

To the Editor:

Middle Gate PTA would like to thank everyone who helped to make the 2003 After-School Activities Program a great success. Thanks to many parent and student volunteers, a total of 96 students participated in nine fun and exciting courses this year. Besides the ever popular karate, art, and science classes which have been offered in past years, this year’s program also offered classes in origami, scrapbooking, chess, hip hop dance, sports card collecting, and Lego creations.

We would like to thank Mike Porco and the Newtown Academy of Karate, Joanne Hunter from The Art Spot of Brookfield, and Linda Rehms and Andrew Glaskoff from Mad Science of Fairfield County for their continued support.

We would especially like to thank Jane Todorski from Newtown Youth Services for finding some of the most fun and energetic student volunteers to teach the classes. Thanks to Brad Campbell, Justin Durelli, Casey Gilbert, Sarah Hartlett, Laura McNamara, Jeanmarie Morlath, Dan Mortensen, Caitlin O’Keefe, Kyle Palo, and Chris Socci. Without their support and dedication, the program would not have been such a great success.

Sincerely,

Denise Rodriguez

On behalf of the Middle Gate PTA
