Free Lectures At The Wellness Center

Beatrix Gallagher, a certified nutrition specialist, will present free lectures on “Alternatives to Ritalin” and “Stop Smoking” at the Physical Medicine and Wellness Center, 24 Glen Road, in Sandy Hook, next week.

The program on alternatives to Ritalin will be held on Wednesday, April 9, from 7 to 9 pm. Ritalin is frequently prescribed to treat attention deficit disorder (ADD) in children. Ms Gallagher said ADD is related to biochemical imbalances that can be corrected successfully with food modifications, some herbs and co-enzymes. She will explain how these tools can address the cause of the problem and not just the symptoms. Also, she will explain what kind of tests are available to get the information necessary to free a child of the need for this type of medicine.

On Thursday, April 10, from 7 to 9 pm, Ms Gallagher will hold a free lecture on how to stop smoking by using nutrition, hypnotherapy, and acupuncture. “This is the most effective way to get rid of this habit in only one to two sessions combining these three skills at once,” she said. Nutrition helps balance cravings and blood sugar; hypnotherapy promotes deep relaxation that produces positive imagery to correct undesirable habits; and acupuncture opens the energy channels for healing, she said.

Reservations are required for the stop smoking program; call 426-6344 for details.

In addition to being a certified nutrition specialist, Ms Gallagher has a master of science degree in clinical nutrition and training in traditional Chinese medicine.
