Antoinette Went

Beloved Mother And Grandmother

Antoinette Went, of Maplewood in Newtown, formerly of New Milford, died peacefully March 30. Mrs Went was born October 23, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio, the only child of Martha and Julius Krajewski. She was the widow of Walter E. Went, Sr, who died in 1990.

Three children, Walter E. Went, Jr, John E. Went, and Richard T. Went; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren survive Mrs Went. A daughter, Patricia MacRae, predeceased her. During her recent illness her children and grandchildren were supported by their spouses and life partners.

Mrs Went was the “cafeteria lady” at several local schools. She volunteered at the Thrift Mart of New Milford, and she also helped in the cleanup process of the Housatonic River. Mrs Went completed her master’s degree late in life and worked for a time as a teacher.

She loved growing flowers and she and her husband sold what they raised at their roadside stand. She also enjoyed making braided rugs and she passed this and other talents on to the next generations.

She attended church at Our Lady of the Lakes in New Milford.

The family would like to thank the many caretakers who aided her peace and comfort.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 4. Burial was at St Francis Cemetery, New Milford.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
