‘Hello, My Garden!’

The Horticulture Club of Newtown will host “Hello, My Garden! or, The Weird and Wonderful Spring of 2012” on Thursday, April 12. The free program will be in the lower meeting room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

Did you miss out on snowdrops? Did your forsythia bloom three weeks early? Will your daffodils be long gone before Easter?

Colleen Plimpton, a garden columnist for The News-Times and USA Book News Award finalist, will answer questions and offer hints about coping with weird weather, wild animals, and poor soils while also speaking about what’s happening now in gardens and backyards.

With more than 30 years’ experience creating and tending her own garden at her Bethel home, Ms Plimpton has plenty of good gardening advice sprinkled with humor to go along with her own horticultural pitfalls. She will provide handouts, visuals and samples during her unique “gardening show & tell” presentation.

Copies of her award winning memoir, Mentors in The Garden of Life, will be available for purchase following the presentation.

Light refreshments will be provided. Reservations are not needed, but information is available by calling 203-426-6596.
