Newtown High School Spring Sports Previews

By Kim J. Harmon

A lot of doomsayers and soothsayers predicted catastrophic upheaval – earthquakes, asteroid impacts and the like – at the dawn of the new millennium but, to be honest, the 21st century has been awfully productive for the Newtown High School sports program.

Since the opening of the new millennium, the Nighthawks in all their guises have captured one CIAC State Open championship, three CIAC state championships and 17 – that’s right, 17 – South-West Conference championships.

And more may be on the way.

The girls’ track and field team is a two-time SWC defending champ and appears to be just as strong as it was a year ago; the girls’ lacrosse team is the defending SWC champ and lost just a couple of pieces off a dominating offensive team; the tennis teams – girls and boys – look like they are ready to take the next step; and one year after qualifying for the CIAC state tournament since the last millennium, the baseball team looks ready to take another step towards an SWC title.

The 2006 season opened to gloomy skies on Wednesday, but things will get bright around here very soon.

GIRLS TRACK

Coach: Doug Russell

The South-West Conference may have taken a step forward with the strength of some of its teams, but no one is going to argue that the Newtown High School girls’ track and field team remains the team to beat.

With nearly 80 athletes out for the squad, the two-time defending SWC champion Lady Nighthawks return largely intact. And while they may have lost Jacky Curran, Quincey Blanchard, Kate Stickles, Leah Herity and Siobhan Cooper to graduation, they welcome back Tara Gaston and Becky Huot, who were key performers as sophomores.

“The girls are motivated and excited about this season,” said head coach Doug Russell. “We won the SWC for the last two seasons and should be strong contenders for this season. But I think there will be some stronger competition out there this season, with Weston and Pomperaug especially, and the other teams have strong girls as well and will definitely be out to get Newtown this season.”

Senior Alex Konneker returns to the sprints where she has dominated the SWC for the past three years. Senior co-captain Sadie Ball will lead the mid- and long-distance crew while seniors Ciara Simek (long and triple jumps), Lindsay Weber (high jump and triple jump) and Jess Cosgrove (discus) will lead the weight crew. Senior Remy Ball gives the ‘Hawks a great presence in the pole vault, as well.

But juniors Kristi Nowak (sprints), Darcy Fiscella (mid- to long-distance), Michelle Brennan (distance) and Julie Landin (sprints) will also contribute a lot of points as will sophomores Elise DeRoo (distance), Jen Brill (distance), Sara Pollock (distance) and Gabby Nastri (jumps).

“We finished ninth in Class LL last season and I feel we could do better this season,” said coach Russell. “Our goals were met last year, so now it is time to move forward and with the strong senior group and the strong supporting underclass girls I feel we can do just that.”

Other seniors include Elizabeth Ericson, Kaitlyn Ferguson, Rose Jackman, Elaine McCafferty, Emma McHugh, Kayla Mesko, Megan Rawson, Megan Rogers, Corey Stokes, Kaitlin Sullivan and Teresa Taylor. Other juniors include Sarah Bonacci, Michelle Brennan, Sarah Greenfield, Jessica Halloran, Julie Landin, Lucy Manos, Alison McEmber, Shayna Moliver, Bethany Murphy, Jessica Neufeld, Holly O’Day, Sara Peters and Celeste Villafano.

The schedule:

April 10 – at Pomperaug, Joel Barlow and Bethel, 4 pm; April 24 – versus Brookfield and Immaculate, 4 pm; May 1 – at Masuk, New Fairfield and Notre Dame, 4 pm; May 8 – versus Stratford, New Milford and Lauralton Hall, 4 pm; May 15 – at Weston and Bunnell, 4 pm.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Coach – Maura Fletcher

Last year the Newtown High School girls’ lacrosse team suffered a big blow early on, yet persevered to capture the South-West Conference championship … and virtually the entire team is back for another crack at it.

When senior attackman Meg Regnery was felled by a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in a 9-5 win over Masuk, it appeared as if the Lady Nighthawks’ dream of an SWC championship was severely hampered.

After all, Regnery was leading the team with 27 goals and just 12 goals shy of breaking the all-time scoring record.

Yet the ‘Hawks overcame – with the offense scarcely missing a beat. Senior co-captain Karli Beitel (43-29-72) was an offensive machine last year and was complimented quite well by junior Rachel Maley (33-12-45), senior Casey Frobey (26-10-36), junior Moira Collier (18-7-25), junior Kate Sudby (10-4-14) and senior Kim Solheim (13-0-13).

Frobey was unable to return due to soccer commitments, but the rest are back on the front line or in the midfield prepared to return Newtown to offensive dominance in the SWC (the ‘Hawks scored more than 200 goals last year). And some younger players – like junior Jen Greenwood, junior Katie McNulty and sophomores Lauren Clark and Courtney Gleason – could factor into that during the season.

But the strength of the team lies not only on the attack, but in the midfield, as well. Sudby, sophomore Lauren Ciccomascolo, Collier and sophomores Libby Feltch and Stephanie Soder are all fast, smart, and possess a great sense of the field.

“Our biggest strength,” said head coach Maura Fletcher, “lies on our defensive end. A firm believer of strong defense, I have all I could wish for this year.”

Senior co-captain and goaltender Kerrie Canavan (SWC championship MVP) is paired with “tough-as-nails” senior Carly Curran and junior co-captain Erica Vacaro and those two may be the two best defenders coach Fletcher has ever had.

And look to seniors Rachel Eastman and Kara Whipkey, sophomores Jen O’Connell, Renee Solheim and back up goaltender Lisa Isabella to round out a very strong second line.

“We hope not only to defend our SWC championship,” said coach Fletcher, “but to finish the season strong heading into the state tournament.”

Looking at all the firepower coming back, that seems awfully reasonable.

The schedule:

April 5 – versus Immaculate, 4 pm; April 6 – versus Cheshire, 4:15 pm; April 10 – at Weston 4 pm; April 11 – versus Joel Barlow, 4 pm; April 15 – versus Masuk, 10 am; April 18 – at Fairfield Warde, 10 am; April 24 – at Masuk, 6:30 pm; April 27 – versus Bethel, 4 pm; April 29 – at Branford, 10 am; May 2 – versus Lauralton Hall (Blue & Gold), 7 pm; May 4 – versus New Milford (Blue & Gold), 7 pm; May 9 – at New Fairfield, 4 pm; May 11 – versus Pomperaug (Blue & Gold), 7 pm; May 16 – versus Brookfield (Blue & Gold), 7 pm; May 18 – at Notre Dame, 4 pm.

GIRLS TENNIS

Coach – Maureen Maher

The Newtown High School girls’ tennis team was close – so close – to capturing a South-West Conference championship last year.

The Lady Nighthawks won their first 11 matches of 2005 before finally succumbing to Joel Barlow, 5-2. The ‘Hawks then won their next four matches before falling to the Lady Falcons again … this time in the SWC team tournament semi-finals.

Oh so close.

And that Newtown team returns largely intact save for the losses of Tara Ryan (No. 2 singles) and Michelle Serock (No. 4 singles).

“Tara and Michelle did very well for us,” said second-year head coach Maureen Maher, “but we have been working hard and we’re ready to go. I think we’re going to be very good and we have a shot at it. I’m more comfortable and the players are really comfortable together.”

The singles rotation has been re-configured a bit, of course, with senior co-captains Lauren Nemeth and Sarah Salbu at the No. 1 and No. 2 slots. Last year’s No. 2 doubles tandem, Kristene Salbu and Ashley Gabor, have been split up into the No. 3 and No. 4 singles positions.

Now, where the ‘Hawks really dominated in 2005 was in the doubles rotation and the No. 1 tandem of senior co-captain Jill Tanner and senior Emily Fields (SWC tournament finalists and All-Staters) are back as are the defending No. 3 doubles champions Jenna Moser and Katie Serock, now moving up to No. 2 doubles.

The No. 3 doubles slot was unsettled as the season opened this week, but unsettled in the sense that coach Maher had about nine very talented players with which to mix and match – Maxx Zimmer, Lauren DeFelice, Nikia McFadden, Veronica Parsloe, Charlotte Manos, Erin Nemeth and Katie Freeman.

“There is a lot of depth on this team,” said coach Maher, “and they are good enough that I could put them almost anywhere.”

Despite losing a handful of starting players, Joel Barlow figures to be plenty good while Pomperaug will probably challenge like it did a year ago. But the ‘Hawks have the talent this year to take a run at their first-ever SWC title.

The schedule:

April 5 – versus Brookfield, 3:45 pm; April 6 – versus Bethel, 3:45 pm; April 10 – at Bunnell, 3:45 pm; April 11 – at Bethel, 3:45 pm; April 24 – versus Notre Dame, 3:45 pm; April 26 – at Masuk, 3:45 pm; April 27 – versus New Milford, 3:45 pm; May 1 – at Brookfield, 3:45 pm; May 3 – versus Immaculate, 3:45 pm; May 4 – versus New Fairfield, 3:45 pm; May 8 – at Stratford, 3:45 pm; May 10 – versus Joel Barlow, 3:45 pm; May 11 – versus Pomperaug, 3:45 pm; May 15 – at Lauralton Hall, 3:45 pm; May 17 – at Weston, 3:45 pm.

BOYS TRACK

Coach – Ed Obloj

It’s no secret that the 2005 season was an awful disappointment for the Newtown High School boys’ track and field team.

Blessed with the presence of one of the most electrifying runners in the state, Marcus Tracy, the Nighthawks finished 10-2 during the regular season but nevertheless stumbled to an 11th-place finish at the South-West Conference championships.

Head coach Ed Obloj wants to rectify that.

“We lost a lot of talent and it’s still a rebuilding year,” he said, “but we hope to come in the top three in the conference. That’s our goal.”

Coach Obloj will look to senior co-captains Dan Tichon (sprints), Will Jacob (hurdles), Jeff Lipnick (hurdles), Josh Tenenbaum (weights), Matt Cole (distance), Chris Nuelle (pole vault) and Jake Sullivan (mid-distance) to carry the load.

Nearly 80 athletes came out for the team and besides the co-captains there are a couple of seniors like Eddie Small and Mike Mitchell who can make a contribution.

“We look pretty good in the distance events,” said coach Obloj, who welcomes back most of the CIAC State Open cross country championship team in Eric MacKnight, Ryan Morrissey, Scott Nichols and Zack Schwartz (a second-team indoor track All-SWC performer), “and we have a lot of young guys who could make an impact.”

Upperclassmen include seniors Mike Mangarella and Ben Snyder and juniors Charlie Baldour, Nathaniel Basch-Gould, Derek Calderara, Adam Calderone, Jesse Cox, Rob DeFilippe, Jose Carlos Dode, Kevin Donahue, Pat Dunseith, Greg Hill, Zachary Klein, Andrew Kmetez, Michael Parker, Brian Pennarola, and Brian Stickles.

The Nighthawks will no doubt be a force in the SWC during the regular season; it’s avoiding the let-down in the conference championships that will be their focus.

The schedule:

April 11 – at Bethel, Joel Barlow and Pomperaug, 4 pm; April 25 – versus Brookfield and Immaculate, 4 pm; May 2 – at Masuk, New Fairfield and Notre Dame, 4 pm; May 9 – at New Milford and Stratford, 4 pm; May 16 – at Weston and Bunnell, 4 pm.

BASEBALL

Coach – Carl Strait

Last year the Newtown High School baseball team took the biggest step in the overall improvement of the program – qualifying for the South-West Conference and CIAC state tournaments for the first time in eight years.

Whether or not the Nighthawks can take another step in that direction – as in, fighting for an SWC title – depends a lot on health.

Senior co-captain Steve Marks played all of 2005 with two fractured vertebrae while senior Alex Dolan is recovering from surgery on a torn labrum. Two players are still working through injuries suffered during the fall and others have been struck down by the flu bug.

If somehow all of that can be worked out, the ‘Hawks – who lost just two starters in Nick Magoulas and Matt Nicoll and just four players all told – could be impressive.

Even while playing hurt, Marks was named All-SWC and All-State (Class LL) while going 7-5 with a 1.51 earned run average. Obviously, Marks will be the ace of the staff but junior Ryan McGrath – already attracting interest from schools like Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Villanova, North Carolina and North Carolina State – figures to be a strong No. 2 starter when he isn’t out patrolling the hot corner (where he hit .360). Dolan (7-5 for his career) will take to the hill behind Marks and McGrath.

The rest of the team is also loaded with experience.

Senior co-captain Peter Oggeri returns for his fourth year behind the plate after batting .440 and being named All-SWC and leads a strong group of returning starters – junior shortstop/pitcher Mike Tibbetts (.424, All-Colonial), junior outfielder Joe DeVellis (.324, .583 on-base percentage), senior outfielder Brian Shimko (.404), junior outfielder Seth Hull (.302) and senior second baseman Steve Vichiola (.333).

Junior first baseman Brian Cullinan (.286), senior third baseman/pitcher Mike Chapin, junior pitcher Dan Murdoch, junior catcher Ryan Clark, sophomore shortstop Nick Urso, sophomore second baseman Alex Magoulas and junior infielder Tony Gallucci Jr. all figure to get some licks at the plate or some time in the field.

“Obviously there are a lot of questions on the mound, defensively and at the plate,” ” said head coach Carl Strait. “It is what it is. So we are just going to go out, work hard and try to become as good as we can be day in and day out.”

But the experience the players have had will be critical.

“We are a team that has played together in and out of the high school season for a long time,” said coach Strait. “These kids grew up playing baseball together, whether it was Little League, high school or AAU.  They are a great group of hard-working kids who are athletic and have a passion for the sport.”

Whether or not the ‘Hawks can challenge for an SWC title will depend a lot on the rest of the conference and Notre Dame, Bethel and Masuk remain as strong as ever. But coach Strait is not discounting Stratford and Pomperaug, two teams which return a lot of talent on the mound and in the field.

“We just hope to compete every day on the diamond,” said coach Strait. “We would like to put the best guys in the best possible scenarios each day and hope things fall our way more often than not.”

The schedule:

April 6 – at Bethel, 3:45 pm; April 8 – versus Wilton, 1 pm; April 11 – versus Stratford, 3:45 pm; April 15 – versus Pomperaug (Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, New York), 1:30 pm; April 17 – at Weston, 11 am and 2 pm; April 19 – at Joel Barlow, 12 noon; April 22 – versus New Fairfield (Yale Field in New Haven), 1 pm; April 24 – at New Fairfield, 3:45 pm; April 26 – at Staples, 3:45 pm; April 28 – at Notre Dame, 3:45 pm; May 1 – versus Bethel, 3:45 pm; May 3 – at Immaculate, 3:45 pm; May 5 – versus New Milford, 3:45 pm; May 8 – at Pomperaug, 3:45 pm; May 10 – at Bunnell, 3:45 pm; May 12 – versus Joel Barlow, 3:45 pm; May 15 – versus Brookfield, 3:45 pm; May 17 – at Stratford, 3:45 pm; May 18 – versus Masuk, 3:45 pm.

SOFTBALL

Coach – Bob Guerrera

The softball team is in a period of transition … and if that’s not one of the classic understatements of the spring, then what is?

Last year the Lady Nighthawks big farewell to coach Jay Edwards and this year welcome in a new mentor, Bob Guerrera, whose most important task so far has been to sort out of the pitching with the loss of strikeout record holder Lisa Morgan (who set the mark at a whopping 680).

For the first time in more than a decade, the ‘Hawks don’t have that one dominant pitcher ready to step in and take the ball every day. But the good news is, the four hurlers who spent the pre-season vying for that opportunity – juniors Mariele Renna and Jenn Blauvelt, sophomore Stacy Broughton, and freshman Jenna Legros – all have competitive experience toeing the rubber.

“The team is young,” said coach Guerrera, “and the biggest question mark will be the inexperienced pitching staff. But we have a very athletic group of players, have been aggressive at the plate and scored some runs in our scrimmages, so if we can get the pitching up to speed and play solid defense we should be competitive. I am cautiously optimistic about the season.”

The ‘Hawks lost some pretty strong bats with the graduation of Christina Wolf (.324, 6 doubles, 24 RBI), Megan LaFlamme (.295, 4 doubles, 6 RBI) and Morgan (.386, 7 doubles, 4 triples, 14 RBI) but return a couple of thumpers in senior co-captains Ashley Ferris (.311, 4 doubles, 3 triples, a homer and team-high 18 RBI) and Jenna Van Waalwijk (2 doubles, 10 RBI).

Ferris will catch the stable of young pitchers while Van Waalwijk will man the hot corner.

Junior Sam Ciaccia had a great season at first base (.260, 1 homer, 6 RBI) and will provide another hot bat for the ‘Hawks. And getting in their licks will be seniors Annie Grills, Ali Legros, Lisa Alberico; junior Rachel Nicolosi; sophomores Kelley Tenney, Melissa Fracker, Joanna Barry, Katie Schmidt and Jax Van Waalwijk; and freshman Nora Lynn Shimko.

The team may be young, but as ‘Hawks reached the South-West Conference championship a year ago most had a chance to contribute.

Things may be a bit unsettled for the ‘Hawks in 2006, but the team still has a lot of talent and a lot of potential to make some noise in the SWC.

The schedule:

April 5 – versus Pomperaug, 3:45 pm; May 6 – at Greenwich, 3:45 pm; April 8 – versus Trumbull, 2 pm; April 10 – at Lauralton Hall, 3:45 pm; April 11 – versus Bunnell, 3:45 pm; April 15 – at Brookfield, 11 am; April 17 – versus Weston, 3:45 pm; April 19 – at Joel Barlow, 12 noon; April 21 – versus New Fairfield, 3:45 pm; April 24 – at Kolbe Cathedral (Seaside Park), 3:45 pm; April 28 – at Notre Dame, 3:45 pm; May 1 – versus Bethel, 3:45 pm; May 3 – at Immaculate, 3:45 pm; May 5 – versus New Milford (Treadwell), 7 pm; May 8 – at Pomperaug, 3:45 pm; May 10 – at Bunnell, 3:45 pm; May 12 – versus Lauralton Hall (Treadwell), 5 pm; May 15 – versus Brookfield (Treadwell), 7 pm; May 17 – at Stratford, 3:45 pm; May 18 – versus Masuk (Treadwell), 7 pm.

BOYS TENNIS

Coach – Marty Margulies

It seems like the Newtown High School boys’ tennis team has always been on the cusp of something big in the South-West Conference.

Can this be the year the Nighthawks get over the hump? If it is, it will be without their No. 2 singles player, Chris Martin, the only player lost to graduation.

“Though that was a serious loss indeed,” said head coach Marty Margulies, “we have a lot of talent, both new and returning, to fill his place.”

Senior co-captain Drew Adamek looks to be the No. 1, like last year, but he returns with more of a power game with the ability to win most of his matches and throw a scare into any player in the conference.

Junior Chris Meier, senior co-captain Max Margulies and sophomore Mario Roehrs are slated to fill the remaining singles positions and have also improved with a year of experience under their collective belts.

“More importantly, we are stronger at doubles than we were a year ago,” said coach Margulies.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of Mike Coster and Jim Wilkins is back together one year after qualifying for the SWC individual tournament. Stepping into the No. 2 doubles position will be a pair of polished freshmen, Adam Wenick and Mike Batzer, and the No. 3 doubles tandem looks to be veterans Dave Wilkins (junior) and Adam Feldman (sophomore).

“We have a larger group than usual – 17 – because a lot of talented and motivated players tried out this year,” said coach Margulies, “and I wanted to keep as many of them as we had room to accommodate.”

Fighting for a spot in the rotation will be junior Ben Wicki and sophomores Evan Ritzinger and Kyle Kearney, all three returning from last year. And then there are four newcomers – seniors Justin Pacheco and Alex DeBrantes and sophomores Dan Cassidy and Mike Griffiths.

Our goal is to qualify for the team playoffs,” said coach Margulies, “and to place as many players as we can in the individual conference and state tournaments. But I will have a better idea of our playoff potential after our opening non-league scrimmages against Pomperaug and Joel Barlow.”

And those are never easy.

The schedule:

April 5 – versus Pomperaug (Treadwell), 3:45 pm; April 7 – versus Joel Barlow, 3:45 pm; April 10 – versus Bunnell, 3:45 pm; April 11 – versus Bethel, 3:45 pm; April 24 – at Notre Dame, 3:45 pm; April 26 – versus Masuk, 3:45 pm; April 27 – at New Milford, 3:45 pm; May 1 – versus Brookfield, 3:45 pm; May 3 – at Immaculate, 3:45 pm; May 4 – at New Fairfield, 3:45 pm; May 8 – versus Stratford, 3:45 pm; May 10 – at Joel Barlow, 3:45 pm; May 11 – at Pomperaug, 3:45 pm; May 17 – versus Weston, 3:45 pm.

GOLF

Coach – Jen Huettner

Two years ago the Newtown High School golf team had its moment in the sun – a 9-4 record and a surprising second-place finish at the South-West Conference tournament.

But things got a little bit cloudy last year as the Nighthawks stumbled to a 6-9 mark and a fifth-place finish at the conference tournament at Ridgewood Country Club in Danbury. Is this the year the golfers rebound?

Head coach Jen Huettner – who lost most of her rotation with the graduation of Dave Freeston, Nick Moser, Jon Cain, Jake Maher and Matt Ronan – sure hopes so and feels she has a squad that can make a run for a top spot in the SWC.

Dave McLaughlin and Matt Taylor return as senior co-captains and solid performers on the golf course. They will lead a group of juniors who all have experience – Billy McCann, JP McDade, Pat Daly, Drew Taylor and Evan Gregoire. Three sophomores – Kevin Troy, Steve Oberstadt and Dan Smith – return with experience and are joined by sophomores Kevin Schneider, Chris Snow and Bobby Davenport.

Coach Huettner is confident the ‘Hawks are much better than a .500 team, but how much better remains to be seen. Pomperaug and Weston will, once again, battle for the top spot in the SWC and maybe the ‘Hawks, in that final regular season match at the Newtown Country Club, can give the Panthers of Pomperaug a run for their money.

The schedule:

April 6 – versus New Milford, 3 pm; April 10 – at Weston, 3 pm; April 11 – versus Brookfield, 3 pm; April 12 – at Pomperaug, 3 pm; April 24 – at New Milford, 3 pm; April 27 – versus Notre Dame, 3 pm; May 2 – versus Bunnell, 3 pm; May 4 – at Weston, 3 pm; May 8 – at Brookfield, 3 pm; May 9 – versus Joel Barlow, 3 pm; May 11 – versus Masuk, 3 pm; May 15 – at Immaculate, 3 pm; May 16 – at Bethel (Rock Ridge), 3 pm; May 18 – at Stratford, 3 pm; May 23 – versus Pomperaug, 3 pm.

BOYS LACROSSE

Coach – Brian Micena

It wasn’t all that long ago – just three years – that the Newtown High School boys’ lacrosse team was sitting on top of the South-West Conference after a 13-10 win over Joel Barlow in the championship game.

But from that moment on the Nighthawks have been on a steady slide downhill as graduation began paring off the most prolific offensive and defensive players in the history of the program. And last year things may have gotten as bad as they could get as the ‘Hawks managed just three wins in 17 games.

“We hope to re-establish our program with our young and determined team,” said head coach Brian Micena, who lost another solid group of players in John Collins, Bob Pattison, Brendan O’Connor and Alex Read.

That re-establishment may have started last year in the SWC Division I championship game.

Yes, despite being a prohibitive underdog to Joel Barlow (the only other SWC D-I team), the ‘Hawks played spirited defense and kept the Falcons out of the cage for the first nine minutes of the contest.

And midway through the second period, the ‘Hawks were only down two goals. But the Falcons were a powerful offensive team and managed three goals in a two minute span of the second period to essentially put the game away.

“We were blown out by Barlow earlier in the year and we’ve had a tough year,” coach Micena said at the time, “but they really showed up today and left it all out there. I’m proud of them.”

Now the work of rebuilding continues … and the good news, on that end, is that the top offensive threat from last year – Grant Speer (27-10-37) – is back on the front line. Travis Speer (9-4-13), Brendan Martin (3-2-5), Tyler Law (3-1-4) and Will Mahony (2-0-2) will also provide some offensive pop.

The keys on the defensive half of the field will be goaltender Drew Harmata, Scott Regnery, Mike Conroy and Towson University recruit Marc Ingerman (2-1-3), who may well be the best defender in the SWC.

“We’re looking to rebound from a poor season last year and be competitive in our conference,” said coach Micena. “We have a very competitive, difficult non-league schedule that will test our depth as the season progresses.  But the team is led by a core group of seniors who have helped set clear expectations for their teammates.”

The schedule:

April 6 – at Immaculate, 4 pm; April 8 – at Norwalk, 3 pm; April 11 – at Joel Barlow, 4 pm; April 15 – at Branford, 7 pm; April 18 – versus Weston, 4 pm; April 22 – versus East Lyme (Treadwell), 7 pm; April 25 – versus Masuk (Treadwell), 5 pm; April 27 – at Bethel, 5 pm; April 29 – at Amity, 10 am; May 4 – at New Milford, 7 pm; May 6 – versus Conard (Blue & Gold), 7 pm; May 9 – versus New Fairfield (Blue & Gold), 7 pm; May 11 – at Pomperaug, 7 pm; May 16 – at Brookfield, 4 pm; May 18 – versus Notre Dame, 4 pm; May 22 – versus Brien McMahon (Blue & Gold), 7 pm.
