Flagpole Photographers Camera Club will host a general meeting and members’ photo competition on Thursday, April 17. The meeting will include a guest speaker on how to enter digital images into competition. The public is invited to join members of the local photography club for the program, to be held in the lower meeting room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

For members, April’s assigned subject is “Texture.” This allows photographers the opportunity to challenge themselves, as well as to hone in on their skills with their creativity for identifying and representing texture. There will also be competitions in Black & White and Open Color.

The public is welcome to attend the meeting and hear the critiques of the photos in the competition, but only members can enter the competition. Light refreshments will be served.

The program will start at 7:30 pm. Admission is free.

Flagpole Photographers Camera Club’s 2014 Annual Show will open on Sunday, May 18. The event will showcase approximately 100 images by Flagpole Photographers Camera Club members.

The show will be on view during the library’s regular hours (12-5 pm). In addition, a reception will be held from 2 to 4 pm, when many club members will be in attendance and available to talk about their photos. Light refreshments will be served.

Attendees will also be invited to vote for their favorite photos, for the annual People’s Choice Award.

The following awards will also be presented after a panel 18 regional judges make their selections: Judges Best in Show, The Dave Kriger Nature Award, The Jeannette Talarino Flower Award, and The Bruce Allen Open Print Award in “Color” and “Black and White.”

Following reception, the collection will remain on view until June 12. Regular library hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am to 8 pm; Friday, 11 am to 5 pm; Saturday, 9:30 am to 5 pm; and Sunday, noon to 5 pm.
