SCAN Call For Artists: Annual Juried Spring Show
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) is seeking entries for its Annual Spring Juried Art Show, to be presented at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, May 3-11. SCAN is an organization dedicated to promoting art and art education in the region.
All artists may enter works for consideration into the show, whether they are members of SCAN or not.
Receiving will be held Thursday, May 1, from 4 to 7 pm, at the library. Artists should use the rear entrance of the building, which is closer to the meeting room where the exhibition will be presented than the entrance off Main Street, when delivering works.
Work accepted includes oils, pastels, watercolors, acrylics, mixed media, graphics and sculpture. Traditional as well as contemporary artists are encouraged to enter up to two pieces.
Entry fees are $15 for the first work for SCAN members, $20 for non-members; and $5 for the second work, regardless of membership status. Works must be totally conceived and recently done by the artist, and not previously shown at any SAN show.
This year’s jury of selection and awards includes Frank Bruckman, Charles Ray and Shauna Shane.
The opening reception is planned for Sunday, May 4, from 2 to 4 pm. Awards, including The Larry Newquist Award For Excellence/Best in Show, a $500 cash award, will be presented at 3 pm. Additional awards, including $1,000 in cash prizes and merchandise, will also be awarded.
Requests for an entry form and full prospectus may be submitted by mail to SCAN, PO Box 41, Newtown CT 06470. The form may also be downloaded and printed from www.scanart.org.
