Cutting The Cord
To the Editor:
Frontier Communications eliminated SNY from their Vantage TV lineup on April 1. This is curious, coming from a company that has invested much in Newtown, and in the state of Connecticut. I switched from Charter to AT&T as soon as it was available. I embraced Frontier when they took over from AT&T. Many offers came from Charter/Spectrum, but I was good with Frontier. My reward is that the New York Mets and UCONN have been unceremoniously eliminated from Frontier by Frontier.
Recently, SNY agreed to sponsor and broadcast live the initial Connecticut Icemen’s hockey tournament. It will be played in Bridgeport at the Webster Bank Arena. Four Connecticut Universities (UCONN, Yale, Quinnipiac, and Sacred Heart) will participate in this tournament, which creates a weekend national focus on Connecticut. Unfortunately, Frontier customers in Connecticut will not be able to view any of the contests. It makes little sense.
I now watch the Mets streaming via Hulu Live. Ironically, Frontier’s actions are showing me how easy it could be to cut the cord.
Sincerely,
Richard English
