Friends of St John’s Episcopal Church have been offering healing prayer services, and will continue to do so at 5 Washington Avenue in Sandy Hook, at 7:30 pm on Wednesdays. Christopher and Janet Leighton announced this week that they will continue the special services through at least the end of April.

The evenings begin with music — to enter into and sing, or just to receive and rest in.

A time of reflection follows — reflection from the bible on such topics as life, hope, comfort, strength, God’s compassion.

Following reflection, the focus turns to healing prayer: prayer for Sandy Hook and greater Newtown and the region, and personal healing prayer for those who desire it.

Guests are welcome to come late if they need to, and to linger for visiting afterwards. Come to strengthen and to be strengthened.

Said the father of one of the child victims of 12/14, after he visited one Wednesday evening, “You have no idea what a difference prayer is making. Prayer helped me take my next breath when I heard the news that my daughter had been killed. Prayer helps me take the next step today. Prayer is the only thing that can bring good out of what has happened.”
