Thomas B. Sager, 79, of Heritage Village, Southbury, formerly of Newtown, died peacefully, April 6, at Danbury Hospital. He was born September 17, 1933, in Philadelphia, the son of Margaret Brinker Sager and Aubrey Palmer.

His loving wife, Nancy Jane Dressler Sager, predeceased him. His daughter Tanya Capeci, and her husband Jeff, of Newtown and his son, Jonathan B. Sager of Woodbury; two grandchildren, Bradley and Greta; and his sister, Beverly of Lawrenceville, N.J., survive Mr Sager. In addition to his parents and wife, two brothers, Ted and his twin Donald, predeceased him. 

Mr Sager graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical Institute of Miami, and from the Industrial Management Institute of Philadelphia. He served two years in the US Army. He was a Korean War veteran and a pilot. 

He was a pioneer in the development of the plastics industry and held many patents for his inventions. Early in his career, Mr Sager was the manager of Plastic Application Engineering for Sonobond Corporation of West Chester, Penn., then the manager of Plastic Application Engineering for the Ultra Sonic Seal Division of Broomall, Penn. He was also a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers.

In 1977, he moved his family to Newtown to work for Branson Ultrasonics Corporation of Danbury. After his retirement from Branson, he continued the work in the field he loved as a consultant for Branson. 

There will be no calling hours. A private burial will be held at the Newtown Village Cemetery.
