To the Editor:

Friends Of Newtown Seniors Inc (FONS) held a highly successful membership meeting and dinner on Thursday, April 11, at the Newtown Community Center. Since 2016, FONS has worked to provide advocacy and services to Newtown seniors. The generosity of local businesses allowed FONS to provide an extraordinary evening for 110 members. Church Hill Village provided the delicious dinner buffet. Each table had wine donated by Yankee Wine & Spirits and a gorgeous floral centerpiece from Hollandia Nurseries. Durant’s Party Rentals provided elegant linens & dinnerware. Caraluzzi’s, Shoprite, Big Y, Stop & Shop, and Stew Leonard’s contributions provided vegetable and cheese trays at each table. Beverages were provided courtesy of Pepsi, Dunkin’ and Starbucks. Costco donated two beautiful cakes. Chick-fil-A donated fruit platters and meals for the NHS student volunteers. Newtown Savings Bank made a very generous donation. Staples Danbury provided the programs and posters.

The following businesses donated gift cards or merchandise as door prizes: AMC Theatres Danbury, Barnwood Grill, BD Provisions, Big Y, Blue Colony Diner, Buffalo Wild Wings, Cover Two Restaurant, Cosmic Coffee, Danny’s Barber Shop, Dodgingtown Market & Deli, Edmond Town Hall Movie Theater, Famalia Bleeker Street Pizza, Fusion 25, LongHorn Steakhouse Danbury, Lowe’s, Market Place Kitchen & Bar, Marygold’s on Main, Mercato Italian Kitchen & Bar Southbury, Mitchell’s Westport, My Place Restaurant, Newtown Car Care Center, Newtown Community Center, Newtown Nail Spa, Newtown Pizza Palace, Newtown Power Equipment, Rob Rozz Plumbing, Sal E Pepe Italian Bistro, Starbucks, Sugo Gastrobar, Tambascio’s Italian Grill, Tractor Supply, Town Players Little Theater, Tory Burch, Village Barber Shop and Zesto Organic Vegan Market & Juicery.

Thank you to all the businesses who donated so generously. Clearly, local businesses support our senior population.
