Hospital Announces
New Womenâs Health Center
WATERBURY â Access Rehab Centers, an affiliate of Waterbury Hospital and a partner with Easter Seals, announces the opening of a dedicated womenâs health clinic called Access for Women.
The new clinic, located at 134 Grandview Avenue, focuses on delivering physical therapy to women at every stage of life, from pre- and postnatal care to menopausal health and beyond.
Treatment options available at the new clinic include traditional physical therapy approaches such as hands-on manual therapy and treatments for pain and inflammation. But the range of services also include long-term beneficial programs such as yoga, Pilates, core stability training, and postural and ergonomic education.
The centerâs coordinator, Michelle Lyons, has been working with Access Rehab Centers since last summer to develop womenâs health services at the Grandview clinic. Ms Lyons has more than17 years experience in womenâs health and wellness issues.
âI want to expand the horizons of womenâs health physical therapy,â Ms Lyons said. âWe will be treating every aspect of womenâs health. Physical therapy is evidence-based medicine with proven benefits and little or no risk. What we do works.â
Physical therapists at Access Rehab Centers work closely with referring physicians as part of a patientâs overall health care team.
