To The Editor:

I have been fortunate to reside and raise my family in Newtown for over 40 years, and I am committed to help to keep it "Nicer in Newtown." That is why I am supporting Michelle Ku for State Representative.

I have known Michelle for a number of years when my husband and I met her through her parents, Alan and Leah Embree. My first impression of her was that she is an extremely intelligent and thoughtful individual. I believe that we share much of the same values in wanting to improve the quality of life for all Newtown residents.

Michelle has served Newtown in numerous capacities from serving two years on the Board of Selectmen, two years on the Legislative Council, eight years on the Board of Ed (four of those years as the chairperson), and one year on the Charter Revision. With all that experience, she has gained a wealth of knowledge in the overall workings and needs of Newtown. She has been instrumental in everything from working to preserve open space to her commitment to upholding diversity, equity, and inclusion in our schools.

As someone who has resided in Newtown raising her family here for the past 16 years and has volunteered her time and energy with her strong leadership, Michelle has proven that she is vested in our town.

Michelle will certainly have my vote on November 3.
