The Mary Hawley Public Service Award Committee is officially seeking nominations for the 2026 Mary Hawley Public Service Award, with a final submission deadline of May 1, 2026. Now in its third year, the prestigious honor recognizes Newtown’s "unsung heroes" who demonstrate the same selfless spirit as the town’s legendary benefactress, Mary Elizabeth Hawley.

Established in late 2023, the award celebrates individuals who have made exceptional, long-term contributions to the community through volunteerism. It honors the legacy of Mary Hawley, whose philanthropy provided the cornerstone of Newtown’s infrastructure, including C.H. Booth Library, Edmond Town Hall, and Hawley School.

"Volunteerism is the backbone of our community," said Bronson Hawley, a committee member and relative of Mary Hawley. "This award is a way to recognize those who spend countless hours in selfless service to make Newtown such a treasure."

Nomination forms are available online until May 1 at surveymonkey.com/r/maryhawleyaward.

Hard copies are also available at C.H. Booth Library, Edmond Town Hall, Newtown Senior Center, and Newtown Community Center.
