Mother’s Day Wildflower Walk

WESTON — On Sunday, May 14, from 1-3 pm, Frank Conway and Cia Marion will co-lead a walk at the 62-acre Katharine Ordway Preserve, at 165 Goodhill Road. These local residents are well known for their interest in and knowledge of native plants and wildflowers. Additionally, Ms Marion is trained in all programs the Nature Conservancy offers to schoolchildren and the general public through its Devil’s Den and Katharine Ordway preserves.

Participants on this walk will glimpse some of the early spring bloomers and hear information about their uses and history. These seemingly delicate plants brave the cold of early spring and survive by flowering before the leaves come out fully on the trees.

After the past mild winter and seemingly early spring, it should be interesting to see what plants have emerged to start the life process again.

Reservations for this walk are required and limited. Call the Devil’s Den Office at 203/226-4991 for reservations, information, or directions to the Katharine Ordway Preserve.
