Environmental Center & Osborne Homestead

DERBY — Time travel at Kellogg Environmental Center and Osborne Homestead Museum on Saturday, May 2.

Bring the family and tour the home of Francis Osborne Kellogg while also enjoying a special display of classics cars. Model Ts to solar cars are part of the outdoor display explaining how cars have changed in shape, size, design and fuel. A special demonstration on converting spent vegetable oil from restaurants for use as a diesel alternative will be included, as well as demonstrations of model solar cars provided by students participating in the Junior Solar Sprint.

At 10:30 am Brent Colley, from Redding Historical Society, will present a program on the development of roads and the history of canals.  He will cover how Native American pathways evolved into the roads and eventually highways which are used today.

The educational car show, demonstrations and displays begin at 10 am and continue to 2 pm. The Homestead Museum and Kellogg Environmental Center will be open with tours and exhibits until 4.

This event is open to the public. Donations are welcome.
