Garner Inmate Arrested On Assault Charge

State police report they went to Garner Correctional Institution about 9:15 am April 22, in response to a report of an inmate assaulting a correction officer at the high-security prison at 50 Nunnawauk Road.

State police said they arrested inmate Shaquan J. Rhodes, 19, of Bridgeport on charges of third-degree assault and refusal to be fingerprinted.

Prison staff received a minor injury in the incident, according to state police.

Rhodes was arraigned on the charges on April 23 in Danbury Superior Court.

Rhodes is an unsentenced inmate being held in Garner on high bail on multiple charges, including carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, threatening, assault, criminal mischief, and violation of probation.
