SCAN Spring Juried Show & Sale Opens Saturday; Reception Sunday

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown, Inc. (SCAN), an organization dedicated to promoting art and art education in the region, will present its 44th Annual Spring Juried Art Show at Cyrenius H. Booth Library, May 3-11.

The library is at 25 Main Street in Newtown. The exhibition will open on Saturday, May 3. It will be formally celebrated during an opening reception and awards ceremony on Sunday, May 4, from 2 to 4 pm. The public is invited to the reception. Over $1,000 in cash prizes will be awarded. 

The jury of selection and awards includes artists Frank Bruckman, Charles Ray, and Shauna Shane.

Traditional as well as contemporary works in oils, pastels, watercolors, acrylics, mixed media, graphics and sculpture will be exhibited by SCAN members.

The exhibition will be presented in the library’s main meeting room. It can be viewed any time the library is open, when the meeting room is not in use. Booth Library is open Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am-8 pm; Friday, 11 am-5 pm; Saturday, 9:30 am-5 pm; and Sunday, noon-5 pm.
