To the Editor:

A great big thank you to our community for helping make the 15th Annual Earth Day festival another success. Thank you to the hundreds of attendees, vendors, and musicians along with the dedicated volunteers from the Newtown Earth Day Committee. The sunny day was filled with good food, great music and a diverse group of vendors offering educational information, energy solutions, and even natural wood carvings/crafts all in an effort to help celebrate the earth and create ways to help further preserve resources.

Many individuals helped make this day happen. Thank you to Amy Mangold and her staff at The Newtown Parks and Recreation Department who helped with getting the picnic tables delivered to the site along with their promotional support. Also, Anthony Capozziello and Arlene Miles from the Public Works Department, who lent their support and helped by getting the tables from the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire department (SHVF). SHVF has graciously allowed us to use their tables. Thank you.

Newtown Middle School provided the event space and the custodial staff was on hand to help. Thank you to Iroquois Gas whose financial support allows us to keep providing the Earth Day Scholarship. Thank you also to Rankin Textile Printing for the T-shirt printing along with Starbucks of Newtown who supplied us with coffee and silent auction items. The Fair Food Project from the Newtown High School Culinary Department prepared some tasty vegan food options. Pat Caruso with All American Waste provided us with recycling and trash containers along with silent auction items. Thank you to all who helped.

We look forward to celebrating next year on April 26, 2025. To learn more about getting involved please visit our website, Newtownearthday.org
