Esther Chmielewski

A Well-lived Life Of Love And Laughter

Esther Constance Chmielewski, 82, of Bennington, Vt., was born December 20, 1929, died April 29, and is finally able to rest.

She could always tell a good joke. She had a great sense of humor and shared her jokes selflessly, with great timing, and closed with a hearty laugh herself. She loved the water, all types of music, apricot brandy, and Tom Hanks.

Mrs Chmielewski had more lives than a cat. After one of her recent Lazarethian events, she woke up and scolded the doctor with, “Why am I here? I told you not to resuscitate me!”

She is survived by her four daughters, including Heidi Theresa Gorman of Sandy Hook; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. A daughter, Debbie, predeceased her. She loved her children, and she loved and appreciated life.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff at the Bennington Veterans’ home for the loving and devoted care provided to her over the years.

A memorial service and celebration of life took place May 2. Burial service in Vermont will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to the Vermont Veterans’ Home, 325 North Street, Bennington VT 05201.

“We love ya, Ma.”
