Diamond Electrical Supply vs Craig Doersch Painting: Diamond Electrical Supply started in the field with great defensive plays by Elenor Glassman and Tory Lewis. Katie Daoust did a great job by catching the outs playing first base. Alyssa Jones and Alexa Glynn both got up to bat and had line shots; both getting singles. In the next inning Summer Harrell made a great throw to Aidan Herbstman to get another out at first base. Gwenyth Shaw finished up the game for Diamond Electrical Supply with rip down to third. It was a great time for the girls in their first game of the year!

For Craig Doersch Painting, Isabelle Caron had the first hit of the game leading off the red team and played well in the field. Rory Coon and Sofia Doersch both hit well with three hits each. Mikayla Maurer fielded the ball well at first base and Ashley Guerrera had a strong hit to third base in the second inning.

Carminuccio’s Pizza vs McCann Brothers: Carminuccio’s Pizza players showed tremendous effort in their season opener. Erin Marshall made a nice grab in the infield throwing to first for the out. Riley Powers, Ashley Hubner and Abigail McManus all had solid base hits up the middle. The McCann Brothers’ Pink Panthers hitting attack was led by Rachel Casagrande, Addie Sullivan, Grace Lynch and Sofia Verdi. Grace Popkin, Jocelyn Bazuro, Caroline Gardner and Noelle Marrazzo made outstanding plays in the field.

Nuzzo Electric 10, Taunton Press 1: Nuzzo Electric’s Victoria Chop’s single drove in the first run of the game. Nuzzo Electric had a strong showing with 24 hits, led by Emily Longo, Olivia Nikolis, Lauren Haynes, Gina Lewis, Carly Nuzzo and Lenie Urbina with three hits each. Carly Nuzzo and Ava Berry pitched well in the first game of the season.

New England Bounce About 5, McCann Brothers 3: Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the last inning, New England Bounce About put on the rally caps. A lead-off single from Caitlin Briggs started the rally. Maddie Greenhaw followed with a single to put the tying run on base. Molly McCleary started the scoring for NE Bounce About with an RBI single. Joey Libero tied the game with her single, which brought Sarah Savinelli to the plate. Sarah drove the ball into the gap to right field for a two-run game-winning double.

McCann Brothers got off to a fast start in their season opener scoring two runs in the third inning on an in-the-park homerun blast by Katelyn Zanieski. Emily Hammond, Margaret Hurley, Shannon Kelleher, Emily Litke and Noelle Salley all singled. Emma Magazu turned a magnificent double play by catching an infield fly ball from her pitching position and beating a New England Bounce About base runner back to first base for the force-out.

U10

Stone River Grille 5, Newtown Hardware 4: For Newtown Hardware Charlize Marrazzo, Mia Villeneuve, Victoria Stevens and Beth Savinelli had key hits to lead the Hardware’s offensive attack. Shauna Tucker and Heather Stroili pitched shutout innings for Newtown hardware. The Blue Team, sponsored by Stone River Grille, started off the season with a win! Allie Daoust made the first out of season with a play to first base. Shanna Adam pitched an awesome game with 4 strikeouts and was followed by Gracie Eurell’s fantastic pitching, striking out 5. Chloe Bigwarf hit a home run, driving in Shanna Adam to tie the game at 3. Natilaly Horn hit in the go-ahead runs, scoring Izzy Satmary and Allie Tolson. Allie Tolson caught a fly ball at shortstop to win the game.

Associated Refuse 3, McCann Brothers 3: Associated Refuse’s Taylor McPadden hit a double and brought in two RBI. Veronica Vodola had a double, Victoria Keayes had two singles, and Brianna Giglio, Sienna Cummings and Emily Krasnickas each had a single. Lianna Perazzo and Sienna Cummings pitched well. Emily Krasnickas, Juliette Cryder and Taylor McPadden made key plays in the field.

McCann Brothers started their 2012 season with a 3-3 tie. McCann Brothers were led by Kendra Saunders, who had two hits and scored two runs, and Jaclyn Moccio who had two hits, including a clutch two-out double that scored Saunders to tie the game. Gabrielle Calbo pitched two scoreless innings and made two spectacular plays in the field. Shannon Jackman also pitched well and made a terrific catch on a high pop-up. Danielle Bianco was solid behind the plate.

Connecticut Seahawks 14, Newtown Hawks 5: The Hawks lost their first game of the season. The girls all played their hearts out. Shanna Adam and Jaclyn Moccio paired up to pitch a great game. Newtown’s bats came alive a little to late in the game with hits from Chloe Bigworfe, Jaclyn Moccio and Grace Eurell.

U12

Client Services International 10, Blueline Designs 10: In a hard-fought season opener, Claims Services International and Blueline Designs finished their game in a 10-10 tie. After falling behind 5-0 during the first three innings, Claims Services plated five runs in the third. A two RBI single by Kaysie Fisher, followed by a two-run double from Joy Metzger and an RBI single by Jadyn Ives, evened the score. Blueline Designs quickly responded with five runs of their own to take a 10-5 lead heading into the last half inning. Refusing to give up, Claims Services battled back with RBIs from Jenna Pannese, Sarah Dowling, Kaysie Fisher and a two RBI single from Joy Metzger. Claims Services pitchers Sarah Dowling, Emma McGrath and Kaysie Fisher all pitched well, with Kaysie recording six strikeouts during her two innings on the mound. Blueline Designs started the season off with a strong offensive showing led by Julia Anderson with a triple followed by two runs scored by Casey Muckell, three additional runs scored by Sam Strocchia. Strong pitching efforts by Alexa Horkachuk and Allie Nuzzo made for a tight opening season matchup.

McCann Brothers Pink Pigeons 5, WellBaskets.com 5: The McCann Brothers Pink Pigeons tied WellBaskets.com 5-5 in their season opener. The Pigeons scored 4 runs in the first inning only to fall behind 5-4 in the third. The tying run was scored by Sydney Marino in the last inning. McCann Brothers had solid pitching by Sophie Ackert and great fielding by Rachel Daum at third base! With solid base hits, WellBaskets.com’s Jackie Gouveia, Rachel O’Grady, and Kaelana Dauber led the offense in this tight game. O’Grady also had a strong presence on the pitching mound — striking out several batters and keeping the other bats at bay. Also sharing the pitching duties were Vanessa Tucker and Tegan Doherty with a 3 up 3 down inning.

 

U14

John M. Glover Agency Wild Thing 23, New Fairfield 6: The Wild Thing topped New Fairfield with outstanding offense. Tina Demaio, Sarah Mawdsley and Sam Cody led the RBIs with help from Annie Hoffman, who added a home run in the top of the fifth. Lexi Tucker, Skylar Kneski and Annie Hoffman all shared the pitching, which held the opposing team to 6 runs. Jamie Fellin snared a line drive toward third base to start off the momentum which led the team to a great win.
