Local CWU Unit

To Host May Friendship Day

The Newtown unit of Church Women United will host its 2012 May Friendship Day celebration on Sunday, May 6, at C.H. Booth Library.

The public is invited to join CWU, whose local membership includes members of Newtown, Brookfield and Danbury churches, for a 90-minute program that will begin at 1:30 pm.

Loosely following the CWU 2012 theme of “The Sounds and Sights of Harmony,” the celebration will include a keynote program by Peg Forbell. Mrs Forbell will share her story of bring born, raised and living all of her life in Newtown.

Attendees will be invited to put pins on a world map showing where they have lived, as well as where their ancestors have come from.

The program will also include prayers and music. There will also be time for reflection on The Fellowship of the Least Coin (FLC), an international ecumenical movement of prayer for peace and reconciliation in the world. Participants will be asked to donate any pennies they have with them that afternoon for FLC.

Light refreshments will be served. The program will be in the lower meeting room of the library, at 25 Main Street.

For additional information call Darlene Jackson at 203-426-5192, or Linda Manganaro at 203-426-3496.
