Nominations Sought For BBB Torch Award

For Marketplace Ethics

WALLINGFORD — Connecticut Better Business Bureau is calling on consumers and businesses to submit nominations for the 2012 BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics.

The award is a yardstick by which Connecticut businesses’ ethical standards are measured, according to Connecticut Better Business Bureau President Paulette Scarpetti.

“This is the highest honor bestowed upon a business for its ethical practices,” she said in a release. “Businesses of all sizes are eligible to apply for the Torch Award because it recognizes marketplace integrity, something that is not related to the size of a business operation.”

The CT BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics showcases companies that set exceptionally high standards in buyer-seller relationships and highlights the value and importance of fulfilling a company’s obligation to the marketplace by conducting business in a fair and just manner.

Consumers are encouraged to submit nominations for a business they feel embodies the highest ethical standards. Also, any BBB Accredited Businesses and nonaccredited businesses may submit an entry before the August 24 deadline.

All applications are examined for adherence to BBB Standards for Trust prior to being reviewed by a panel of independent judges. A description of the Standards can be found on the Connecticut Better Business Bureau Web site at http://ct.bbb.org/bbb-standards-for-trust/.

Criteria and an entry form for the Torch Award are available at www.ct.bbb.org. For more information, contact Jaclyn Hotton at 203-269-2700, extension 123, or by e-mail at jhotton@ct.bbb.org.
