Newtown High School Girls' And Boys' Golf Teams Continue To Shine

Newtown High School's golf teams continue their winning ways. The girls' squad went on the road and defeated Weston 206-235 on April 26 and beat Stratford 224-340 the next day, then topped visiting Bunnell of Straford 210-272 at Rock Ridge Country Club on May 1.

Against Stratford, Sarah Houle shot a 41 for medalist honors, Camryn Findley shot a 63, Liz Weisgerber 61, Kayla Ward 59, and Kira Kelly 64.

In the Bunnell match, Houle led the way with a 39 to again earn medalist recognition. Kelly had a 57, Casey Muckell 55, and Weisgerber 59.

The boys went to Pomperaug of Southbury on April 26 and beat the Panthers 169-180. Mike Meyer led Newtown with a score of 39. David Brestovansky shot a 43, Ryan Patrick 43 , Ryan Kost 51, James Ruggerio 44, and Marc Carlson 46.

On April 27 the boys had a road match against Joel Barlow of Redding and lost 177-166. Meyer shot a 47, Brestovansky 44, Patrick 42, Kost 45, Ruggiero 46, and Carlson 48.

The Hawks visited New Fairfield on May 1 and came out on top 166-122. Meyer shot a 38 for medalist honors, Brestovansky 39, Patrick 53, Kost 48, Ruggiero 41, and Carlson 45.
